Gary has had a love of nature from his days growing up on the waters of numerous Michigan lakes. The day he graduated from college he headed out to the Grand Canyon with two friends and immediately fell in love with the American West.
A few years later Gary took up the art of photography with his first Pentax K1000. He took mail order classes, college classes, read all the magazines, studied the greats, but he learned the most from going out with his friends/mentors and learning from their instructions and through trial and error.
“Unfortunately, I cannot say that I have refined and developed my own distinctive style over the years. I enjoy both B & W as well as color. I still use film and haven't made the jump to digital yet. Medium format film has produced my most outstanding Southwestern photos, while 35mm B & W has been my favorite for capturing people… in those special "Kodak Moment" portraits”.
